West Michigan lakeshore

Christmas light installation in Holland

Holland sits beside Lake Michigan, with Lake Macatawa reaching into the area. The town has older neighborhoods, newer subdivisions and lakeshore homes, and it gets plenty of lake-effect snow. Warnimont & Wolfe owns the lights, installs them in November, looks after them in season and takes them down in January. Brad and Josh are a two-person crew. We take a short list of homes each season.

Older neighborhoods, newer streets and lakeside homes

Holland has older homes near downtown, newer subdivisions in the surrounding townships and lakeshore homes on and near Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan. Each needs a different plan. Older houses often have more roof detail. Newer ones often have a long, simple front. Lakeside homes face the water as well as the street.

At the design visit we walk the property, measure every run and photograph the house. You get a photo mockup of the house lit up, one all-inclusive price and a one-page agreement. Everyday Roofline covers up to 100 feet of front roofline, in commercial-grade warm white C9 LEDs, clip-mounted. Nothing is nailed, stapled or glued.

Corner lots and homes with attached garages have more than one face to the street. A garage roofline may or may not fit inside the 100 feet of Everyday Roofline. We add up the footage at the visit and tell you plainly.

Lake-effect snow, drifts and ground-level lights

Holland is in the lake-effect snow belt. Snow can pile up fast and stay. Lights on the roofline sit above the drifts. Low pathway lights can get buried, so we plan where they go with you and talk about how they will look with snow down.

Wind comes off the lake too. Every Roofline job includes a service call during the season, and Signature Estate includes maintenance visits. If snow or a storm moves a run, we come back. Estate covers rooflines, tree canopy and trunk wraps, lit wreaths and garland, and pathway accents, drawn up on site.

If your house sits far back from the road, a lit walk and entry help guests find the door in a snowy dusk. Pathway accents are part of Signature Estate, and we place them with the snow in mind.

Lakeshore second homes and seasonal timing

Some lakeshore homes near Holland are used only part of the year. Every display is timer set, so the lights run on their own. Tell us at the design visit if you will be away in November, and how we should reach the outlets. We use the exterior outlets you have, and we do not do electrical work.

Installs run early November to mid-December. Takedown is in January, and we store the lights. The design visit is $150, credited toward your install, and it is confirmed once the deposit is paid. Call 262-300-7729.

How it works

Questions from Holland homeowners

Will heavy snow bury my lights?

Roofline lights sit above most drifts. Low pathway lights can get buried in a snowy Holland winter, so we plan their placement with you at the design visit. A service call during the season is part of every Roofline job.

My Holland house is on the water. Can you plan the lake side too?

Signature Estate is a whole-property design, drawn up on site. Tell us at the design visit which side you see most, the street or the water. The photo mockup shows the plan before you book.

What does the January takedown involve?

Nothing on your end. January takedown and storage are included in your price. We own the lights, so you never box them up, find room for them or untangle them next year. We take them down and keep them.
